Сейчас Густыня - это маленькая деревня с населением в 150 человек. Возникла она в 1600 году, когда монахи с горы Афон Иоасаф и Афанасий по благословению настоятеля Киево-Печерской Лавры пришли сюда для уединения и основали здесь, на острове в пойме реки Удай среди густого леса (отсюда и название), мужской монастырь. Освятили обитель в честь Святой Троицы.
